Case study: University of Stuttgart - Powerful supercomputing at economical prices.
The most exciting part about building a model car or airplane is that you're dealing with a genuine replica that's to scale. On the other hand, the problem is that once you've taken the time to build the thing and it's sitting on your shelf, you're stuck with it as is. That's the same problem as some supercomputing systems that use specialized processors or are optimized only for small configurations. Once they're taking up space on your campus, they may not be upgradeable or scalable in an easy, cost-effective way. Download the complimentary University of Stuttgart case study for a detailed overview of high-performance computing available at economical prices.
